About Hunger
44,000 Of Your Neighbors Are Hungry
1 in 6 are food insecure, often not knowing how they will get their next meal.
Last year, the Food Bank collected and distributed 5.4 million pounds of food.
Nutrition is top priority at the Food Bank, last year over 48% of what we distributed was fresh produce. This number includes 100,000 lbs harvested by locally by our GleanSLO program.
At the Food Bank Coalition, we believe everyone has the right to nutritious food, regardless of the reason why they can’t always obtain food for themselves. That is why we make it our mission to see that no one in our county goes hungry. We’re working hard to meet the need, a need that has grown by 25% in the last year.
Hunger has a cure, but we need your help.
Join the Food Bank in our efforts by donating food or funds or by volunteering your time. No matter how you choose to get involved, your efforts make an impact. Everyone can do something to fight hunger in our community.
