SLO Food Bank
Coalition of San Luis Obispo County
About Us
Founded in 1989 the Food Bank Coalition distributed 400,000 pounds of food annually through 20 non-profit agency partners. Today, about 5.5 million pounds of food pass in and out of our doors each year. We work hand in hand with more than 200 non-profit agencies including: church pantries, recovery programs, after school programs, homeless shelters, soup kitchens and more. We also have direct distribution programs: Senior Brown Bag, Cal Fresh/Food Stamp, Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP), Food for Children, Harvest Bag, Healthy Food for Local Families, and Summer Feeding Service Program (SFSP).
Today, we are fortunate to have two warehouses to cover the county from San Miguel to Nipomo and our coastal communities. Our main warehouse is in Paso Robles; our second location is in Oceano. Together these two warehouses give us 20,000 square feet of storage space.
We keep our overhead less than 5%, which allows us to turn $1 into 7 nutritious meals. We are able to do this because of our hard working staff, knowledgeable board, and large volunteer core.
Our network of volunteers number more than 500 strong. They are the people who enable us to get the food from our distribution sites into the hands of SLO County residents in need.
We can think of no better place to operate a Food Bank than here in San Luis Obispo County. We are very proud to be part of life here on the Central Coast, and we work hard to our mission to see that no one in SLO County goes hungry.
