Donation Drives

One of the best ways to help the Food Bank Coalition is to organize a donation drive. With our low overhead, we use 95 cents of every dollar to provide food. And with our buying power, we can make even a few dollars go a long way.

Our supporters constantly surprise us with the way they tune the donation drive idea to fit their groups. Maybe one of these ideas will spark your own creativity:

  • The Student Council at Atascadero Junior High held a "Miracle Minute" this spring. During one period of the day, students dashed from classroom to classroom, collecting dollars and change. They raised over $400 for the Food Bank while having fun!
  • The staff of local hospitals often find it works well to simply take up a collection among employees for Hunger Awareness Day in June, then present the Food Bank with a check.
  • The Young Farmers, a branch of the Farm Bureau, "passed the boot" at the Farmer's Market in SLO and collected over $1000.
  • Uptown Jean Company also raised more than $1000 at Farmer's Market, asking people to "Fill the Jeans" with dollars for us.

We can offer tools for your use in donation drives. You can borrow collection boxes from us, and we can provide flyer samples and talking points. Sometimes we can help you create a flyer to fit your needs. We look for ways to publicize your efforts and can occasionally offer radio and TV possibilities.

Call us in Paso Robles at 805-238-4664 to talk about your ideas, and we'll see how we can help. You can also send us an email anytime.
