During the school year, over 16,000 children in SLO County participate in the Federal assistance program Free and Reduced Price School Meals, which provides students with a meal at school. Now, when school lets out for summer, these children can access nutritious meals (like breakfast or lunch) and a snack through the SLO County Food Bank's Summer Meals Program. Meals are FREE to children and teens ages 18 years and younger and are distributed at approved sites during the summer months when school is not in session.Read More »
Hunger Walk has never been more fun! The 2017 Hunger Walk + 5k will take place on Saturday, September 16th at the Laguna Lake Park in San Luis Obispo. Come enjoy music, family friendly activities, food and refreshments at the finish line. Hunger Walk + 5k is an opportunity to make a difference by raising funds to end hunger in our community. Love SLO began with a vision to make San Luis Obispo an even better place to live. Partnering with the Love our Cites movement which began in the Central Valley in 2009, Love SLO came to San Luis Obispo with the desire to meet needs, demonstrate kindness, and impact lives. After 7 years, Mindful Mothers has passed the torch of the Munchkin March to the City of SLO Parks and Rec Department. The new "Boo Bash' will continue to benefit the Food Bank Coalition of SLO County. The event will take place at Meadow Park again, where there will be plenty of room to eat, mingle and play!
