Hunger Awareness Day

June 2, 2017

Today 1 in 6 SLO County residents is food insecure, which means 46,000 people lack consistent access to enough nutritious food for an active healthy life. The Food Bank Coalition is committed to providing nutritious foods through their direct programs and partnership with a county wide network of agencies; distributing 6.2 million pounds of fruits, vegetables, and pantry staples to families and individuals who face hunger.

We can all take steps to address the needs of our food insecure neighbors and work together to support healthy lives. With every dollar donated the Food Bank can provide ten dollars worth of nutritious food to one of our neighbors in need. You can make a significant impact in the overall health of our community by making a contribution today.

Help us make this campaign successful by helping us raise funds and awareness. Volunteers are encouraged to bring fun eye-catching props or costumes to their donation site. In the past we have had volunteers bring hula hoops, bubbles, wear crazy hats, sport their business or team uniforms and even make their own signs all in hopes to catch the eye of passers by and encourage donations! SIgn up for a 2-hour shift at a donation site near you:
