During the school year 16,000 of the children in our county participate in the Free or Reduced Priced School Meals program at school, which provides them with a meal during the day. Unfortunately, during the summer break these children no longer have access to these meals. Lovin' Lunchbox provides nutritious meals (like breakfast or lunch) and a snack to children and teenagers age 18 years and younger struggling with hunger at approved sites during the summer months when school is not in session.
Volunteers are needed to help distribute meals and snacks at approved Lovin' Lunchbox sites during the summer. To learn more about volunteer opportunities with our Lovin' Lunchbox program, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator:
Our mission is to work with a network of community partners to alleviate hunger in San Luis Obispo County and build a healthier community.
