To volunteer at the warehouse, you must be at least 16 years old and fill out an application. If you're younger than 16, you may volunteer for other opportunities, such as food drives, with your group.
Yes, we welcome people who need to volunteer to satisfy a school or court requirement. If your hours are court-ordered, you'll need to fill out a special application and have it approved by the Food Bank before you start. Also, if you're over 18, please bring court paperwork with you.
Our main warehouse is in Paso Robles. We also have a warehouse in Oceano. Click for addresses and directions.
In Paso, we're open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. In Oceano, we're open those same hours and on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Generally, we like volunteers to work four or more hours at a time. But we understand that people have school, work and other responsibilities. We will work with you as much as possible to accommodate your needs.
In our warehouses it's very much an industrial setting, so use common sense. Please don't wear revealing clothing, for instance. Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty and closed-toed shoes. Our warehouses can feel much colder inside than outside temperatures, so bring a sweater or sweatshirt.
We have a wide variety of tasks you can do in the warehouse, from sorting and stocking food to driving a truck. Some of our volunteers work in the office, filing, stuffing envelopes and working on the computer. We have others who just work special events and on committees, and many who work at our distribution sites throughout the county.
