What will I need the day of the event?

Please bring your donations in your envelope with your name and amount raised. Be sure to identify how much you have raised online and how much is collected in your envelope. Don't forget to bring your own reusable water bottle or plastic bottle as water will be available.

Is there a minimum donation amount?

There is no minimum amount for those interested in participating. T-shirts are available for those who have raised $100 and $50 for participants under the age of 18. 

Why should I be a part of the Hunger Walk?

Your participation in the Hunger Walk will help the Food Bank Coalition raise funds and spread awareness of our mission to help thousands of individuals and their struggling families receive the nutritious food that they could not otherwise afford.

What if the weather conditions are not pleasant?

The walk will be held rain or shine, so wear weather appropriate clothing. 

How do I learn the details of individual walk sites, such as how long the walk is?

All walk locations are apporximately 1 mile long. Click on walk locations to find more information about each indivudal site. 

Will everyone be walking together or individually?

Everyone will start at the same time, but walkers will spread out according to their pace. There will be no "stopping of traffic" and all pedestrian laws will be obeyed.

To whom do I make checks payable and where do I send them?

 All checks can be made payable to the SLO Food Bank and may be mailed to:

*Remember all donations to the Food Bank Coalition are tax deductible.

 

Where does the money I raise go to?

100% of the money raised will be used by the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County for its hunger programs, including support to its 225 agency partners throughout the county. 

Is this a children and pet friendly event?

Yes! The hunger walker is a family friendly event and we encourage you and your family to take part. We also welcome well behaved, leashed dogs.
