Healthy Food for Local Families
In an effort to educate recipients on the importance of blanced nutrition, and the impact of developing healthy eating habits at a young age, the Food Bank Coalition is working in partnership with the Network for Healthy California, SLO County Department of Education, SLO County Department of Social Services, local school administrators, staff and family volunteers. We strive to make sure that children don't lose focus on their school work, get frustrated, and skip homework once or repeatedly because they are hungry. A well-fed family is a happier, "healthier" family. Thanks to generous support by the Walmart Foundation and the Webster Family Foundation this program was able to expand county-wide feeding over 20,000 individuals.
What you receive?
Generally, we provide the following types of food:
- Breads, cereals, canned goods, snack foods, fresh fruits and vegetables
- Each household will receive a bag of shelf stable food items, as well as a bag of healthy produce
How do I qualify?
1. Must attend the distribution held within your local community
2. Must self-certify that you meet the income guidelines listed below:
- $1,361 or less per month for an individual
- $1,839 or less per month for a 2-person household
- $2,316 or less per month for 3-person household
- Add $478 for each additional person
What do you need to provide?
No income documentation is required, but recipients are asked to bring proof of address in the form of a driver’s license, bill or other piece of mail.
