Program: Neighborhood Site Distributions & Special Events
Please share your name, and a bit about yourself and your background.
My name is Jennifer Knoll. I have been on the Central Coast for 30+ years, a Paso Robles Bearcat Graduate of 1996. I moved away after high school and returned after a few years to continue growing my roots in the community. I now reside in Templeton with my beautiful family.
When and how did you first hear about volunteering with the Food Bank?
I was searching for volunteer opportunities in the community on the Volunteer SLO website for my children and myself. We signed up for an All Ages Day at the SLO Food Bank warehouse and absolutely loved it. Since volunteering at the Food Bank, their desire to give has expanded to taking it upon themselves to helping folks bag their groceries, keeping snacks in the car to hand out, taking part in ReMax’s Up with Kids program and more.
What programs and events have you been involved with?
After first volunteering at the warehouse, I became a site leader at Grace Baptist distribution site in Paso Robles. My volunteers (Stanley & Harold) are amazing and I have grown to know so many who benefit from the SLO Food Bank programs. Their gratitude overwhelms me with happiness.
I also helped with Hunger Awareness Day for the last two years. In additional to the SLO Food Bank, I also am a meal provider for ECHO Shelter in Atascadero and am involved in Thanksgiving for Paso Robles.
