Due to extraordinary high tides, this year’s SLO County Turkey Trot is going entirely virtual: same tradition, a lot more starting lines, and the same purpose of feeding neighbors in need. Register to receive exclusive merch and enjoy a festive Thanksgiving morning that gives back to our community.

Complete simple registration or create or join a Neighborhood Trot to organize with others to trot together and fundraise.
2. GET YOUR GEAR
Pick up your merch for free at one of our pickup events, or add shipping and have it mailed to your door.
3. TROT ANYWHERE, ANYTIME
Run or walk at the time and place of your choosing or a Neighborhood Trot before November 27.
3. SHARE IT
Post your trot photos with #SLOCountyTurkeyTrot and tag @slofoodbank to share with our community.

This year, king tides are expected November 24-26, 2026. King tides are predictable periods of unusually high ocean water levels that can temporarily cover beaches, coastal trails, and other shoreline areas. The tides are expected to cover the beach at the Pismo Beach Pier on Thanksgiving morning. These conditions are not suitable for a large community event. After carefully evaluating several alternatives, we determined that a virtual Turkey Trot is the best path forward this year.
Anywhere you like! Your neighborhood, around the block, or wherever you’re spending the holiday. Choose a route you know and follow local rules.
Any time before November 27. Many participants enjoy trotting on the morning of Thanksgiving Day, but do what works best for you!
This year’s limited-edition t-shirt or bandana is our thank-you for your registration.
- Adult registration with t-shirt or bandana: $33 (sizes small through 3XL)
- Child registration with t-shirt or bandana: $25 (sizes children’s small, medium, and large)
- Bandana add-on: $10, for a little trotter, a four-legged trotter, or yourself
If you choose shipping, register by November 13 to ensure your t-shirt or bandana arrives before Thanksgiving.
Preferred t-shirt sizes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Before November 24, you can either add a flat shipping fee of $10.00 to your order to have the items shipped to your door or you can attend one of our free merch pick up events listed below.
- Avila Valley Barn (560 Avila Beach Drive), Saturday, November 21, 9 – 11:00 a.m.
- SLO Food Bank (1180 Kendall Road), Thursday, November 19, 3 – 5: 30 p.m.
- SLO Food Bank (1180 Kendall Road), Tuesday, November 24, 3 – 5: 30 p.m.
Orders placed by November 13 will begin shipping the week of November 16. Later orders will be mailed as soon as possible, but we can’t guarantee arrival before Thanksgiving.
For those who register after November 24 at 6:00 p.m., your merchandise will automatically be shipped to you for a flat shipping fee of $3.00 per registration/item.
The SLO County Turkey Trot event supports hunger-relief in San Luis Obispo County. By participating or donating, you are providing nourishing meals for our neighbors in need.
You will receive your donation confirmation soon after completing your donation. Your receipt will come in a separate email.
The SLO Food Bank is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your registration is tax-deductible minus the value of the items received. All donations are fully tax-deductible. To claim a part of your registration as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record.
