Cal Poly Journalism
Kim Bisheff is a Cal Poly journalism professor who specializes in media literacy and public affairs reporting, and a faculty fellow at the Cal Poly Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship. She worked at the Los Angeles Times and Outside magazine before becoming a freelance journalist, author and lecturer. Kim chaired the journalism program at Cuesta College from 2012 to 2016 and has taught journalism at Cal Poly since 2004.
“I’ve seen a shocking amount of food insecurity in the local college student population, so when I learned that one in six of our county residents is food insecure, I could put faces on those numbers. In a community with so much abundance, everyone should have access to nutritious food. I am honored to be part of a team that is working toward that goal.”
