Garret Olson spent the first 30 years of his professional life helping people in need during his career in Fire Service. Garret retired as the Fire Chief for the City of San Luis Obispo in 2018 and started a consulting firm with another former Fire Chief, Rob Lewin. When the COVID-19 public health emergency impacted our lives, Garret and Rob donated their emergency management experience to assist several local non-profits, including the SLO Food Bank. Subsequently, Garret was invited to join the SLO Food Bank Team as the temporary COVID Emergency Operations Manager.
In May, 2020, Garret was honored to accept the position of CEO. For Garret, supporting organizations on the front line of combating hunger has been a family commitment for many years and generations. Garret enjoys sharing the SLO Food Bank’s story of service and the value of investing in our mission. Please feel free to reach out to Garret directly.
